"Our son has been attending IDS for about six months. We have been impressed by the professionalism shown by the staff and the happy and caring atmosphere at the centre.

Every attempt has been made to cater for our son's likes and dislikes with regard to food, and to provide a varied programme to stimulate him, with lots of trips out, and in particular, visits to the swimming baths, which he loves.

"As the mother of a young man with learning difficulties and mobility problems, I felt it was important for him to have a focus in life and to have the opportunity to engage in activities and make new friends which I was unable to provide.

A friend told me about IDS and we went along to see them. My son was immediately at home and I needn’t have worried about him settling in. The staff are wonderful and have assessed my son’s potential, designing a programme of activities which he enjoys and which he is capable of participating in.

He loves going to IDS and his workbook keeps me informed of the day’s activities, as my son has limited speech. They are often in contact by telephone suggesting new activities and asking my opinion/approval of these new projects. It is a wonderful environment and I am happy to leave my son in their care, knowing that he is being well looked after and his needs are catered for."

"When it came to choosing an adult service for our son we were at our wits end because he has got very complicated needs and is also registered blind. I was told to go and look at IDS. I went to visit and came out floating knowing I had found the service for our son.

Everyone was so nice and approachable and the other service users were so happy. Now two years on I know I chose the right services for him.

They are like extended family, everything is centred for his individual needs. They go out of their way to make sure each user is happy and cared for. We personally know our son will be there forever when he has appointments we have to schedule them for first thing or last thing because he doesn't like to miss any time from there.

He transitioned extremely well because of the staff that work there. His sense of humour came out straight away. He has grown and flourished even more with the support he gets from the staff. I would say if anyone is unsure go see them, look at the care they give and also now they help each service user to be as independent as they can be.

We personally can't praise the service enough because they don't just support out son they have supported us also. They are a fantastic services. We would recommend them to anyone."
